Unscored and Research Sections

In addition, there may also be a 30 or 35-minute 'Unscored' section, which may come at any point after the Analytical Writing Section. Sometimes in place of the Unscored section, there may be a 30 or 35-minute 'Research' section, which always comes at the end of the test. Both the Unscored and Research sections usually consist of an extra Quantitative or Verbal Reasoning section. The ETS® uses the Research section for testing new kinds of questions. The Unscored section is also used to make sure that the level of difficulty in different editions of the test and in individual tests is the same. So, neither of the sections contributes to a test-taker's actual score. If a Unscored section appears in the test, there is usually no way of identifying which section is unscored - all that the test-taker will know is that there are 3 Verbal or 3 Quantitative sections instead of 2. So, all sections have to be attempted equally seriously. The Research section, however, always comes at the end and therefore can be easily identified and skipped.

There will be a break of 10 minutes after the second section and breaks of 1 minute between the other sections, bringing the total testing time to about 3 hours 45 minutes.

Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning Score Scales

The scores for both the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections are on a scale of 130-170 with 1-point increment. Your scores in these sections depending on your performance on the questions given and on the number of questions answered in the time allotted. Within each section, all questions contribute equally to the final score.

The form must be received at least seven days before your first-choice test date. A confirmation number, reporting time, and the test center address will be faxed or mailed to you. If you do not receive a confirmation of your appointment, call the appropriate RRC at least three business days before your first-choice test date. If you missed your appointment and did not call the RRC, your test fee will not be refunded. If you provide an e-mail address, you may receive a confirmation by e-mail.

Rescheduling or Canceling a Test Appointment
You must reschedule or cancel your test no later than three full days before your appointment (not including the day of your test or the day of your request) or your test fee will be forfeited. To reschedule or cancel your appointment call:

Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) Section

The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) measures your ability to think critically and to communicate your ideas. During the AWA, you are asked to analyze the reasoning behind a given argument and write a critique of that argument.

The Integrated Reasoning section of the GMAT exam measures your ability to evaluate information presented in multiple formats from multiple sources.

Quantitative Section

The Quantitative section of the GMAT exam measures your ability to analyze data and draw conclusions using basic math skills. Multiple choice questions test you on problem-solving and data sufficiency.

Verbal Section

The Verbal section of the GMAT exam uses multiple-choice questions to measure your ability to read and understand written material, to evaluate arguments, and to correct written material to conform to standard written English.

Rescheduling or Canceling a Test Appointment
CANCELLATION
Your GMAT registration fee is forfeited if you miss your scheduled GMAT exam. If you cancel your appointment, the refund policy is as follows:
US$80: If canceled more than seven calendar days before the scheduled test date
No refund: Within seven calendar days before the scheduled test date.
RESCHEDULING
US$50: More than 7 calendar days before the scheduled test date

IELTS

Listening	30 Mins	Listen to four recorded texts, monologues and conversations by a range of native speakers, and write your answers to a series of questions.
Reading	60 Mins	Consists of 40 questions. Includes variety of question types: reading for gist, reading for main ideas, reading for detail, skimming, understanding logical argument, recognizing writers' opinions, attitudes, and purpose.
Writing	60 Mins	Includes three long texts which range from the descriptive and factual to the discursive and analytical.
Speaking	11-14 Mins	Assesses your use of spoken English, and takes between 11 and 14 minutes to complete. Every test is recorded.

REGISTERING FOR THE IELTS® TEST

1. Find Your Nearest IELTS Centre
Find your nearest IELTS center and check the test dates to find options that suit you. Note the deadline for registering for each test date.
Print the IELTS Application Form or collect a copy from the test center. Complete the form and sign it.
In some centers, candidates may be able to register for the test online. Please refer to the test center's website for further information.
Take a photocopy of your current passport - this must be valid and not expired.
Take your application to your IELTS test center with your money. If you send it by mail, please talk to your center about the method of payment.
Once you have registered, the test center will confirm your IELTS test date, time and venue. The Speaking test can be up to 7 days before or after the test date.

Rescheduling or Canceling a Test Appointment
In certain situations, you may need to postpone or cancel your test.
If you cancel your test or request a transfer five weeks or more before the test date, the test center will charge an administration fee of INR 2750
