What are the types of Master’s Degrees offered in the UK?
UK offers mainly two types of Master’s degrees:
a. Postgraduate Taught Degree (M.Sc.): This degree program requires students to attend regular classes, write exams and complete a project at the end of the course.
b. Postgraduate Research: Students work on a research project and at the end of the program submit a Dissertation.
When can I apply?
International students can apply twice in a year. One semester begins in the month of September and the other begins in January. For the September intake you should apply latest by April and for the January intake you should apply latest by September.
How much is the cost of study?
The Tuition Fees for International students can vary between 12,000 and 26,000 Pounds annually for courses in the STEM category. Living expenses will be between 12,000 to 16,000 Pounds per month. This amount will cover your rent, food, transport, and other miscellaneous expenses.
When are decisions made on the Application?
Universities that have specific Application deadlines, begin the Application review process after the closing dates. While universities that have Rolling Admissions, review Applications as soon as they are received. A minimum time of eight to ten weeks is required to review all the Application documents and make a final decision.
When can I apply for a Student visa and how long is it valid?
After you have received an admission from a University in UK, you can apply for a Student Visa minimum six months before the beginning of your course. The minimum time required to process a visa is three weeks. The visa when granted is valid for the duration of your course i.e. 1 year.
After completing my Master’s degree in the UK and if I have not found a job how long can I still stay back and look for a job?
After your graduation you can apply for a “Graduate Route” visa to stay back in the UK and look for a job. Since 1st July 2021, the UK Govt. introduced the “Graduate Route” for international students with a B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree from UK. This visa enables students to stay in the UK to look for a job. Student with a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree can stay up to 2 years and students with a Ph.D. can stay up to 3 years.
